The SARAUNIYA BEAUTY PAGEANT organization was born out of the passion to empower women to develop the confidence they need to achieve their personal best in their goals and aspirations. With much emphasis on the North, Sarauniya Beauty Pageant is a sociocultural event that we organize to promote the diverse mix of cultures, fashion styles, trends and women in Northern Nigeria.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the Arewa woman (Northern Nigerian woman) and the different ways she contributes to our shared humanity. The Sarauniya Beauty Pageant seeks to celebrate the quintessential nobility and character of the Arewa woman. Using the Sarauniya platform we empower and promote GCE (Girl Child Education) as a means of eradicating poverty in Northern Nigeria, through our empowerment and scholarship schemes that follows the event.
A confident woman has the power to make real change, starting in her local community with the potential to reach a global audience. We encourage every woman to get out of her comfort zone, be herself, and continue to define what it means to be Confidently Beautiful.
Sarauniya Beauty Pageant is a company run by women for women, built on a foundation of inclusion and continues to be a celebration of diversity. Annually, nearly one thousand young women participate in Sarauniya pageant events. The mission of the organization is to provide the tools which help women to be their personal best. Self-confidence is the key. Every woman should have the confidence to stand up in any situation and declare, “I am secure and that’s what makes me beautiful!”
Miss Zarah Abdullahi from Maiduguri in Borno state became the first Sarauniya crown winner in 2016 during the first edition of the pageant.
The second edition saw the emergence of Miss Zarah Zirah, a native of Adamawa state and graduate of law from Knutsford University College, Accra Ghana.
In 2019, we saw the emergence of Miss Grace Husseina Peters from Kaduna state.
The current crown queen is Miss Elizabeth Jones, a final year student of Benue Stae University.
As organizers of the event, we felt the need to spice things up a little bit by flipping the script. This years edition which is scheduled for Sunday 5th December, 2021 by 5pm will begin three days prior as we have included other interesting activities that will benefit the community including carnival procession, food festival, cultral display, durba, live concert and other activites.
The event will also honor a few distinguished Nigerians who have also done a lot to promote the Northern woman; with the Sarauniya Achievement Award.
